Besucher - visitors

In den letzten Wochen hatten wir viel Besuch:

We had some visitors in the last weeks:

Joshua's Onkel Toby kam vorbei (das war bereits Anfang Februar).
Joshua's uncle Toby came to visit (that was already beginning of February).

Emily's Quartett spielt regelmaessig verschiedenste Konzerte, manchmal proben sie auch bei uns im Wohnzimmer.
Emily's quartett quite often performs various concerts, sometimes they rehearse in our living room.

Und so sieht das aus, wenn auf einmal der Strom ausfaellt:

Und letztes Wochenende war dann Onkel Daniel wieder mal hier. Wir hatten eine Menge Spass!
And last weekend it was uncle Daniel who came. We had lots of fun!

Feb 2009: Endlich richtiger Schnee in Muenchen - Finally some snow in Munich

Es geht doch nichts ueber ein anstaendiges Fruehstueck im Bett!
There is nothing like a good breakfast in bed!

Es hat endlich mal richtig geschneit! Also sind wir in den Pasinger Stadtpark und haben mit Schlitten und Langlauf das Wetter genossen. Es gibt sogar einen kleinen Rodelhang; aber das machen wir dann erst naechstes Jahr...
Finally we got a decent amount of snow! So we went to the park here in Pasing, and enjoyed the nice weather with x-country skiis and sled. There even is a little hill where kids can go down with their sleds. But that we saved for next year...

Feb 2009: Winterurlaub - winter vacation - in Oberkollbach

Mitte Februar haben wir fuer 5 Tage einen kleinen Winterurlaub in Oberkollbach bei Andy's Eltern gemacht. Joshua uebt noch mal schnell kurz am Tag vor der Abfahrt, wie man Mama's Schublade mit Tupperware neu sortiert.

Middle of February we took a nice 5 day winter vacation to Oberkollbach staying at Andy's parents. The day before we left Joshua was practicing rearranging Mom's drawer with Tupperware.

In Oberkollbach erwartete uns eine wunderschoene Winterlandschaft. Das haben wir sehr genossen, nachdem wir ja in Muenchen bisher nicht so vom Winter verwoehnt wurden.
In Oberkollbach we were welcomed by a Winterwunderland! We enjoyed it very much since we didn't get much snow in Munich this last winter - at least so far.

Joshua fand's prima: Gut dass Oma auch so eine Tupperware-Schublade hat, die dringend neu sortiert werden musste...
Joshua loved it: Fortunately, Oma also had such a drawer with Tupperware which urgently needed to be newly arranged.


Andy's Mutter gibt Joshua zum ersten Mal Rosinen - und er liebt sie!
Andy's mother introduces Joshua to raisins for the first time - and he loves them!
Am Valentinstag sind wir zwei abends in die schoene Stadt Baden-Baden gefahren und haben in einem franzoesischem Restaurant einen wunderbaren Abend gehabt. Excellente!
For Valentine's day the two of us went to the cosy town of Baden-Baden where we had a wonderful evening in a french restaurant. Excellente!


Hier ein paar Eindruecke vom wunderschoenen Schwarzwald im Winter. Wir haben es sehr genossen, in der freien Natur Langlauf zu machen und hatten viel Spass dabei!
Here are a few impressions of the beautiful Black Forrest at winter times. We enjoyed being out in the nature with our x-country skiis and had lots of fun.



Die Zeit verging wie im Flug, und bald war unser Kurz-Urlaub schon wieder beendet. Joshua hat die Aufmerksamkeit sehr genossen, und Oma & Opa natuerlich auch!
Unfortunately, time flew by and very soon our short winter vacation was over. Joshua enjoyed all the attention, so did his grandparents!

Feb 2009: Szenen aus unserem Alltag - Scenes from our daily life

Die letzten paar Wochen waren wie immer voll mit Terminen und Ereignissen; Joshua hat sich den Norovirus eingefangen und an uns beide weitergegeben... und fuer zwei Tage lag die ganze Familie flach. Das war ganz schoen heftig aber zum Glueck auch recht kurz.
The last few weeks were - as usual - full of appointments and events; Joshua got the Norovirus and passed it on to us... and for two days the whole family was sick. It was pretty tough but fortunately it lasted only 48 hours.

Aber es gibt auch nette Geschichten zu erzaehlen:

Wir waren Ende Januar zum Sonntags-Brunch bei Stefan & Marion in Sendling eingeladen - es gab alles was das Herz begehrt, besonders aber leckere Crepes! Es hat uns viel Spass gemacht bei Euch!
Late January we were invited to have Sunday brunch at Stefan & Marion who happen to live in our old neighborhood - they had out everything you can imagine, especially yummie crepes. It was lots of fun with you guys!


Spass macht es auch, wenn Papa Andy abends nach Hause kommt BEVOR Joshua schlafen geht, und dann so begruesst wird:
It is also lots of fun when Daddy comes home BEFORE Joshua goes down to sleep, and is welcomed like this:
Dann gibt es noch eine Gute-Nacht-Geschichte, und weils der Papa ist: auf Deutsch.
Then there is a Good-Night-Story being read, and because it's Daddy: in German.

Jan 2009: Musik zu Hause - Music at home

Joshua staunt ueber das Geigenspiel seiner Mama und dirigiert auch schon mal mit. Vielleicht hat er ja ein paar musikalische Gene, das wird sich zeigen...
Joshua loves watching and listening to Mama's violin playing, and he also conducts once in a while. Maybe he got some musical genes, who knows...
