Unser kleines gemütliches Ferienhaus -- The renovated barn in which we stayed

Mitte August haben wir die Möglichkeit genutzt, in dem Ferienhaus von
Freunden Sommerurlaub zu machen; da dies in der Normandie ist, konnten
wir unmöglich nein sagen und haben unsere letzten Urlaubstage
zusammengekratzt und das Auto gepackt.
In
August, we were fortunate (and thrilled) to spend 2 weeks vacation in a
country house in Normandy (a house which belongs to friends), with proximity to lovely beaches and to the famous Mont St. Michel.
Unsere Nachbarn... Henry liebt jetzt Kühe und muuht kräftig durchs Haus!
Thanks
to the cows in the neighboring pasture (which we could observe from the
breakfast table), Henry has his barnyard animal sounds straight, and
truly favors these animals.

Natürlich haben wir oft frisches Baguette beim Bäcker im Dorf gekauft
und dann in allen Variationen genossen; hier zeigt Joshua die
selbstkreierte Variante mit Schokolade drin...
We
tried to live as French as possible, and loved every minute! I think
they need to invent a different word for bread in all countries but
France. Nothing compares. Here, we enjoyed baguette with a piece of
chocolate inside, a kids' snack I remember from my semester near Paris.

favorite street in Avranches, rue des Trois Rois, with the coffee shop
that roasted its own beans, and a wonderful seafood shop, from which we
bought our mussels and cooked them ourselves, the classic norman way!

don't think a city could be much more beautiful: a walled city with
beaches and water all around, the raw rocks, the fortresses.
Breathtaking!

| Tagesausflug auf eine der vielen Inseln. Andy's
parents (Oma and Opa) joined us for our last five days. Here we are on a
boat trip to the Iles Chaussey, an archipelago whose islands multiply
at low tide. After the Iles Chaussey, if one were to continue sailing,
he would come to Jersey and Guernesey, and then it's on to England! |
