Ist zwar schon eine Weile her, aber wir hatten einen überaschenden Besucher aus Kanada: Andy's Schwester Tine kam spontan nach Deutschland und übers Wochenende zu Besuch; und Joshua fand es toll, die Tante Tine aus "Ganzweitweg mit dem Flugzeug" wieder zu sehen.
Back in February we had a surprise visitor: Andy's sister, Christine, came to visit us during a rather spontaeous trip to Germany -- soon after her and Steve's big move from British Columbia to Ontario! Joshua is probably beginning to think all relatives come from far away on an airplane!
Das Wetter war zwar nicht optimal, aber ein Besuch im Zoo ist immer der Hit. Wir haben viel erlebt, die Tiere haben uns jede Menge Show geboten. Die Zebras nicht so sehr, aber wenigstens ist Joshua auf dem Bild...
Despite cold, rainy weather, we enjoyed a daytrip to the Munich zoo. We really lucked out with the animals' "performances" -- they seemed to pull out all of the stops for us.
Aber die Elefanten haben alle möglichen Kunststuecke vorgeführt und zum Schluss sogar einmal kräftig trompetet. Das war laut!
The elephants really did a show for us, with log-lifting, trainer-carrying, fancy poses, leg-lifting and loud trumpeting!
Und das Eisbärenpaar in ihrem neuen Gehege haben direkt vor unseren Augen vergnügt gespielt.
Sparks seemed to fly between the zoo's male and female polar bears, and it seems all of Munich hopes there will be a baby polar bear before too long . . . This would be a happy event after the death of a baby elephant and (most recently) an elderly lioness in the past year.

It was a fitting outing with Andy's animal-loving sister! We enjoyed the whole long-weekend together of walks and talks, chatty dinners and playing with the kids.
So ein Tag im Zoo ist echt anstrengend; Henry war sehr lieb und hat interessiert alles verfolgt. Und Joshua wollte zwar erst nicht, war dann doch froh, sich mal "kurz" vorne reinsetzen zu sollen... Und wir waren auch dankbar für den Doppelkinderwagen :-)
We're so extremely grateful to our friend, Nathalie, who gave us her double stroller and which (one again) came in very handy at the end of a long outing!
