Am 30. Maerz feierten wir Joshua's dritten Geburtstag. Er war zuerst etwas verwirrt und dachte es sei Weihnachten...
Joshua turned 3 on March 30th. Andy had to leave early for work that morning, so Joshua opened his family presents -- his grandmother, Marmie, was here for a visit, too -- first thing in the morning. He was a little confused, wanted to give us the presents, and thought it was Christmas! (On top of the piano you can see the party bags for his Peter Rabbit birthday party in the afternoon.)
Aber die Geschenke waren natuerlich klasse, und Joshua hat sich riesig gefreut.
Joshua's already a huge Beatrix Potter fan, and was thrilled about his collection of all of her stories. He's also been setting up shop these days, and his parents were happy to see that the classic Fisher-Price cash register was a hit.
Am Nachmittag feierten wir dann Kindergeburtstag mit vielen kleinen Gaesten und den Mamas.
We invited 5 of Joshua's friends and their moms for a little party in the afternoon -- complete with Peter Rabbit paraphanalia, home-made carrot cake, bunny cookies, and (thanks to Marmie) pin-the-tail-on-the-bunny!
Ein ganz besonderer Gast in der Geburtstagswoche war Emily's Mutter oder Joshua's Grandmarmie aus den USA.

Joshua had a great day and learned what birthdays are about. With Andy's and Henry's birthdays just 4 and 6 weeks later, this was very helpful.
Emily was thrilled at how well the birthday party went and was so thankful for the good weather. And yes, she was absolutely exhausted that evening!
