Joshua and Grandpa ride hobby horses through the house . . . Together we rode to Brattonsville in Northwestern South Carolina. There we found homes dating from 1780 and 1840, representing the Revolutionary War and ante-bellum periods. It was here that 25% of "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson was filmed.
We brought a picnic, since the site is rather out in the boonies. Temperatures were around freezing, but it was a beautiful, sunny day.
When the Bratton family first arrived in the area mid-18th century, they quickly built a simple house to get to more important things: farming. The homes got sophisticated with each generation; 4 generations of the Bratton family lived here until the American Civil War.
Joshua and the resident cat, or as he says, "catty".
If you're wondering why Andy's posture is less than straight, we'll point out that Joshua weighs 14kg (over 30 lbs), and is getting to be a handful!
